Oh no! All the Truffula Trees have died! You must now help the Lorax in an effort to bring them all back. The Lorax Garden is the what some would call the sequel to The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. Oceanhouse Media did a good job timing the release of it, as Earth Day is just around the corner. If you have not had a chance to read The Lorax it is available as an e-book on the app store. If you have not read the book it ends in saying we must do something to the save the trees or we will live in a world of hurt.

Review

There are many levels in The Lorax Garden, where you must plant back the Truffula Trees, saving the land. In each land you will have to reach a certain quota of trees to plant. To meet these quotas you must care and nourish for the different trees. A large player in helping these trees grow are Care Hearts. Care Hearts are earned by planting flowers. You must water the flowers precisely and remove any weeds. The more flowers that you grow the more Care Hearts you receive. Without Care Hearts it takes a very long time for the trees to grow. Watering of trees and flowers is controlled by a water bar at the top. It tells you when you have watered too much and too little. It also tells you how much water you have left.

Once your tree finishes growing it is added to your wasteland, each time the land gets lighter and lighter. When you reach your quota of trees the land returns to being as beautiful in Dr.Seuss’s books. You even have the option to send a postcard of your newly revived land. Sadly you can only share your excitement over e-mail.

As you pass through the different lands you receive upgrades to your flowers and trees. For trees you can receive many different colors, the shape of the tree, and different stems. Also when you progress you can have multiple pots for growing simultaneously. As for flowers you just receive different seed packets. You also receive a few pests along the way like bees.

Aas you progress through the game it seems that flowers are much more important than trees. They are used to receive Care Hearts and scare off predators. The graphics of Lorax Garden in the beginning are quite simple and resemble those of Dr.Seuss. When you start to plant the trees and flowers you are astonished by the amazing 3-D graphics.

Overall, Lorax Garden is a sun simple app to kill some time. I find myself playing the simulation when I’m bored. This is the perfect games for kids though, especially near Earth Day. The game is just $2.99 in the app store

Recommendation

I recommend this app to anyone who has kids.

Tips

1. Invest you time in flowers, they really help during the game.
