Buckets, a $3.99 offering at the iTunes app store, is a task management application for the iPhone and iPod Touch.  According to ComputerShopper.com, Buckets is 1 of “10 iPhone Productivity Apps You Need Now”. Developed by Press Start LLC, its newest release, version 1.3, focuses on improved speed and ease of use of the the application. It was designed to allow users to quickly add tasks, without requiring the details.

I’m a visual person, so upon opening the application, I was expecting eye popping colors and a variety of buttons to choose from. I was, in all honesty, a bit disappointed. But being as not everything is what they seem, I gave it a chance. As I spent more time with the application, I came to realize that Buckets was a very basic, get-down-to-business type of program, designed to become my own personal assistant. Efficiency was the name of the game. All this without the added and more likely, useless bells and whistles that I was looking for. By being able to record your to-do lists, it gives you control of all your tasks and commitments, freeing your mind from the job of having to remember everything that needs to be done, and concentrating on actually performing those tasks.

It’s simple. Just gather the tasks at hand, remember everything that is necessary to track or take action on, and simply type them into your bucket. After you’ve transferred everything into your collection, you can use Buckets to organize, process, review, and perform tasks (and actions).

With Buckets, you can view your tasks the way you want, as it offers multiple ways to view your tasks & projects. It also affords you the flexibility to utilize only the features you want to use. If you just want a way to keep a list of “to-dos”, just enter the task and forget the details. Or use Buckets to track the details of entire projects.

With the ability to input tasks, projects, and actions, as well as important details, Buckets allows users to track high priority tasks and projects, or create simple lists (such as a grocery list).

Recommendation

Buckets does what it says it does, which is to provide the ability to quickly add tasks and gives you the chance to fill in the details later, when you have the time. By providing a simple, easy to use interface, I would recommend it for people who like to manage and organize every part of their everyday life or would like to start.
