Remember playing the memory game as a little kid, where you had to lay out a deck of cards faced down on a table in which you and your friends took turns matching two cards of the same suit? Spinal Apps’ Pairopix for iPhone and iPod Touch does just that and more. Besides from not having anymore messy cards to clean up, Pairopix is a fully customizable virtual memory game with rather unique features.

Review
Pairopix provides a 4 x 6 gameboard where you will need to match two of the same photos. Simply tap any one of the closed ports, then tap another and hopefully you have matched a pair. There will be a total of 12 pairs that need to be paired up in the shortest time possible.

Pairopix has two modes of play, Level 1 or Level 2. Level 1 is your basic game where the matched pairs will remain open throughout the entire game. Level 2, on the other hand, is a different beast. Matched pairs in this level will only remain open for a certain amount of time before both ports close up, so you must try your hardest to solve the board as quickly as you can. Pairopix keeps track of top scores and posts the time and the number of taps it took you to solve each set.

The game comes with four preloaded sets and provides 17 free sets which you can download from within the app. Pairopix also allows you to create up to 20 of your own sets using photos you already have inside your photo album and easily provides a way to crop/adjust them to fit the ports.

Graphics are kept clean, basic and suit the matching game quite well. Controls are fairly simple. Just touch a closed port to open it and shake the device to bring up the menu, pause/resume the game, get information or email about Pairopix to a friend. It simply is a fun app for kids of all ages.
