GasBuddy puts information gathered from a network of gas price reporting websites right on your iPhone for easy access and use. With the high gas prices this is an excellent way to save money at the pump.

Review

GasBuddy is an app that has been designed to provide users with the cheapest gas prices while on the go. Taking information from a network of over 181 websites GasBuddy can show you where the cheapest place to get gas is in just about any given area.

When you first access the app you are given a few different choices, the first tab is Pricing. From this section you will be able to find the cheapest gas prices you can search by a few different ways; the first is by your current location using the iPhone’s GPS or for the Touch users you can search by zip code. Once you have completed your search you can then sort by distance or price. They set up is easy to read and find the gas station you want to go to. Once you have selected one you can view all the reported prices, how fresh the reported price is, view on a map of where the gas station is located, address and finally list of services provided. As you can see more than just the prices are offered making this a very handy app.

The next tab is the Report section; from here you will be able to submit your own price report. In order to do this and have your report publish immediately you will want to go the www.gasbuddy.com website and register. Unfortunately you cannot register from the app. If you choose not to register you can still report prices but they will not post until they are verified.

The next tab is the GasBuddy section, in this part you will be able to view your points and your savings this will only work if you have a registered account. The site also as weekly drawings giving away gas cards and your earn points that get you into drawings by reporting gas prices and a few other things that can be done.

The fourth tab is a handy one; On Fumes is the tab you will hit if you are about out of gas and need a quick map search of where the closest gas station is. In the final tab is the Settings from here you can log in and also change a few other settings for the app.

Tips

If you buy this app I recommend going to the GasBuddy website and registering so that you can report gas prices, see your savings amounts and more importantly get a chance to win a free gas card. Registration took less than five minutes.

Recommendation

GasBuddy is currently $2.99 and comes highly recommended to anyone who purchases gasoline or diesel. This app just had a big update that made it a lot more user friendly and is now worth getting for sure. After using the app a few times it will pay for its self anyway.
