App Store Race, Apple Blows Everyone Out of The Water

Silicon Alley Insider recently posted a new graph detailing how all the app stores stand against each other, in what some might call a race but it looks like Apple has a lead that may never be beat. According to this source the Apple App Store now has over 170,000 apps in its catalog, a staggering amount compared to its closest competition with 30,000 in the Andriod Store. The real surprising numbers are in that it only took Apple 10 months to add 120,000 apps that that does not even include the iPad App Store that I am sure will add even more cross over apps. Blackberry came in third with 5,000 apps and Palm in last with only 2,000 apps.

With RIM and Palm making little headway in the app world and Andriod so far behind Apple do you think a time will even come when Apple is challenged? Or is it to late? Post your thoughts below in the comments section.
