It’s better than a pet rock! Toy Monkey for iPhone and iPod Touch is a virtual pet application rendered with 3D graphics based on a simple concept. As the owner, you are solely responsible for this stuffed monkey’s welfare. You must feed its physical and emotional needs to keep him happy and alive.
Review
Toy Monkey has a simple premise, to keep your pet monkey alive and well. When you begin the application for the first time, you will be asked to name your pet. From there, you must cater to its needs. You can feed it bananas till it’s full, which he will let you know as if you feed him way too much, he’ll throw up. You can also make him dance, give him a flower, poke and tickle him, or if you want to be mean to him; give him electrical jolts.
If you tick off your pet or pay any attention to it, he will become stubborn and refuse to play or eat. Also, if you don’t feed him long enough, your pet will die. Toy Monkey keeps stats and hands out awards for a well and happy pet.
Toy Monkey is fully rendered in 3D. It is based off a simple design with minimal background noise and a short musical score. Controls are all carefully laid out at the bottom of the screen which can easily be understood by the app’s targeted young audience.
Recommendation
Toy Monkey comes recommended for young children. It teaches kids responsibility without having to take care of a pet in real life. It’s cute, it’s interactive and it’s fun. Toy Monkey is available now at the iTunes App Store for $.99.
