Perth, Australia – The V Phone is a mobile sip client or softphone for the iPhone for making internet calls over wifi or 3G. The mobile VoIP app also enables users to send text messages or SMS’s not through your wireless carriers BUT through the internet. What this means for users is simple… dirt cheap calls and SMS’s.

The V Phone uses the Internet connectivity to route your calls and SMS’s to the receiving party. This basically means that users who can access the Internet on their iPhone are able to make mobile voip calls through their voip providers free of charge or at a fraction of the cost compared to traditional PSTN calls.

The V Phone mobile VoIP app is available at the Apple App Store and comes in 2 versions; standard and premium. The Premium version includes the G729 codec which is ideal for making calls over 3G as it uses less bandwidth and has better sound quality. VIOP is definitely the way of the future. It's exciting to see the new technologies being developed. I am an electrical engineering and programmer, and although I don't work in the VOIP field, I am great interested by it.
