Google Gmail Push Notifications for iPhonePush notifications will soon be available for Google’s Gmail on the Apple iPhone, through the use of an application called GPush. Once approved from Apple, GPush will use Push Notification technology launched with the iPhone’s new 3.0 software that will send a pop up message each time you receive a new email.

Google has already released push for Gmail on other devices including the Palm Pre and Android phones. Battery life became a concern due to the consistent incoming of notifications, but GPush does not effect battery life because external servers do all the work. You will have to open the iPhone email app though in order to read the messages which is kind of a bummer, as wait time is involved for one to close and open.

If and when the GPush app is approved in the App Store, it’ll set you back $0.99.
