Facebook 1.6 Update for Blackberry Smartphones

Facebook for the Blackberry just got better. With the latest update, Facebook 1.6, there are a bundle of new features that give Facebook a much needed facelift for the Blackberry.

With previous versions of Facebook, the layout and navigation was a big issue, especially on the status update page. Sometimes it would send you to a browser page, or give you extremely old updates from weeks before. But the new layout for Facebook changes everything. They replaced the old icons and navigation, and gave you a helpful navigation bar at the top, so navigation is no longer a challenge and you always have the bar available to take you back to the home page.

Another major change has come in the way of profile viewing. Now there is one simple page where you can view wall posts, status updates, and even photos. Thats right, Facebook now has picture viewing capability. You can also tag and edit photos right from your Blackberry.

But not only can you now view posted pictures, but you can also upload your own from your very own Blackberry device! I personally love that I can take a picture and send it right to Facebook, without even opening the application.

One feature that I did find to have a seemingly intrusive premise was the option to connect your phone contacts with your Facebook contacts. That includes picture as well. So while it does help with caller ID, it just seemed like it became VERY connected with my phone.
