How To Force Quit Apps With iPhone 3.0 Software

How To Force Quit Apps in iPhone 3.0 SoftwareApple likes to change things behind the scenes without telling everyone at the same time. Up until the 3.0 software update, force quitting applications was accomplished by holding the home button on the iPhone for 5 seconds until the application quit. No longer is it that easy.

In fact holding down the home button on an iPhone 3GS activates the voice control application and there’s no way to change this as of yet (frustrating).

In order to force quit an application in the iPhone 3.0 software you must first hold the sleep/wake button at the top of the phone until the “slide to power off” and cancel screen appears. Then you hold the home button for approximately 5 seconds until the application is forced to quit in the background.

Apple goes from performing 1 step to 2. What is this, Windows?

Thanks for finding this nugget… I've been wondering how to do this since the 3.0 update came out!
