A ninja, straws, and candy. Hmmm…Doesn’t seem right. Well, it’s not right. Straw Ninja; Just Run by DIGITAL PLAY, is a funky game where running on platforms and staying alive is your only goal. Oh yeah! and collecting candy to boost your score. How far can you go?

Review

Straw Ninja; Just Run uses running and swinging controls very much like the popular Canabalt and Hook Champ to make something among the lines of Hellkid Hook and Jump.

In the game, you play as a ninja collecting candy throughout a level. The level scrolls which makes the ninja run and jump if the screen is tapped. There are two ways that can make you start over from the beginning. The first is if you hit an obstacle that is lying in your running path. This can happen if you don’t see the the object, or you you fall on the object while attempting to jump over it. When there are big gaps in the ground that you can’t jump over, you must tap the screen, and tap again while holding to swing across using your straw.

There are two modes of play: Standard mode and endless mode. In standard mode the level ends, whereas in endless mode, the level goes on and on forever. For both of these modes, there are four levels of difficulty. Easy, Normal, Hard, and Nightmare with easy being the easiest, and nightmare being the most difficult one. The game also offers a training mode in which you can practice various techniques. This will help get you experience.

The graphics are fun and nicely drawn. Also, the colors are bright and eye attractive.

So the question is, how far can you get before starting over? Do you think you can beat your best?

Overall, Straw Ninja; Just Run is an addicting game with unlimited replay value that will keep you going back again and again. The purpose: to beat your best score.

Tips

1. Use the training mode if you’re a beginner just learning, or if you are having trouble with a certain area in the game.

2. The only object in this game is to beat your high-score and this only comes with experience. This is the type of game that is a time filler that you get better at after playing it for awhile. So just keep playing and you will master it.

Recommendation

In all the game offers tons of gameplay (if you get frustrated easily like me). If you have a spare $0.99 go ahead and purchase the full version of Straw Ninja; Just Run. If you don’t want to purchase it, a lite version is also available for free. LINK.
