Disney Digicomics Review for iPhone and iPod Touch

With Walt Disney’s latest free app, Disney Digicomics for iPhone and iPod Touch, you can now choose from a large selection of the most successful comic books from around the world to purchase, download and view right on your device.

Disney Digicomics is a free comic book app that comes with two free downloads: A Christmas Carol and Superduck: Superhero of the Day. The app is extremely easy to navigate. The home screen provides two main options, My Comics; which stores and organizes your comic book library, and Digistore; where you can browse and purchase additional comic books.

From My Comics, you can find and launch your comic books. Simply choose one from the list and it will immediately begin playing for you. You can choose to play the comic automatically, based on your settings or swiping from one page to the next. Comics can be viewed from either portrait or landscape modes. Four buttons are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Selections include viewing by collection, character or category with a fourth button which takes you directly into the Digistore. In My Comics, you also have the option to delete comics that you no longer want to keep in your library.

Digistore is the Disney comic book virtual store. Here you will find the Editors Choice, followed directly underneath by two tabs which sort the comics into two categories, Adventure or Donald Duck. Once you make your selection, the next screen will provide the price, rating, a small color thumbnail of the comic book cover, writer and artist names with a quick synopsis of the story. Downloads can run in the background, so you can continue reading your existing comic books without interruption.

Disney Digicomics provides plenty of options from the home screen. Directly at the bottom are five buttons: Home, What’s New, Settings, Help and More Disney. The Home button takes you back to the main screen and What’s New lists all the newest comics added into the Digistore.

Settings grants you access to your account. Here you can choose your language, disk space usage; allowing you to set the memory space you want to dedicate to storing your comics and review details of your purchase history. You can also filter which characters you’d like to see, categories, set your audio preferences, page transitions and be able to set the delay between autoplay frames, should you choose to do so.

The Help button provides instructions on how to navigate through the app, given in comic book form by Donald Duck, himself and the last button, More Disney, simply gives you a coverflow list of other Disney apps you can download from the App Store.
