Released in December of 2009 is the follow up game to Spore Origins. Spore Creatures is an app that is different than most you will play in the app store. This game will take you on an adventure of exploration, adaptation and even evolution. As you explore across 20 different levels in 4 different zones. All while creating new Spores.

Review

The second in the series takes us to land this time, you start off with a basic Spore on the sandy beach and it just gets wild from there. As you play the game you can create new Spores based on your actions in the game, there are over 40 different things you can add to your Spore to make it different there are so many possibilities of what it could look like. As you play the game and explore around on one of the 20 different levels you can find and collect different items that can then be later added to your Spore all while slowly evolving the DNA of your spore. You also have the option the change the color and shape of your Spore. One of the really fun features is how you can chose to interact with other creatures; you will sometimes have the choice of communicating or attacking and both will lead you down different paths in the game. This all makes for a unique game play with high replay value.

The sounds match the levels and what’s happening in the game very well. The graphics are outstanding and the scenery is lush and pleasant to the eye. You control your spore using the phones altimeter and it works well. If you were a fan of Spore Origins then this game will impress you.

EA has done a great job with this app anyone who plays will be able to tell the app was made right from the start, I found the game play to be very immersing and the app preformed flawlessly. With your Spore constantly changing, always encountering new creatures this app is sure to keep your attention for quite some time.

Recommendation

Spore Creatures is currently $6.99 in the app store and comes recommended to fans of the spore series. If you have yet to play spores there is a lite version of the original that can be played for free but please keep in mind Creatures is an entirely new game with a lot more to offer than the original but you will at least get an idea of the game.
